Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in power within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of characters who will separate from the primary party to begin their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death started the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as important members in the influential clan could assist the team enter locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them few options but to head to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Explorers and Schemers tables.
Audiences can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
